Software Engineering

Custom software development — web, mobile and desktop applications engineered around your business processes.
  • The problem

Off-the-shelf software rarely matches how an organisation actually operates. Teams end up working around the system, maintaining parallel spreadsheets and reconciling data by hand.

  • What we do

We design and build software specific to your operation — web and mobile applications, internal platforms, customer portals, and the APIs and integrations that connect them to your existing systems.

  • The outcome

A single system your team works in, accurate data in one place, and full ownership of the source code.

In practice

Software engineering is our core practice. Every other service we provide exists to support the systems we build and keep them operating reliably.

We begin by understanding how your organisation works today — the processes, the people who run them, and where effort is being lost. That analysis determines what we build, and it is where most of the value in a project is decided.

Systems are delivered in stages you can review and use, so you see progress throughout rather than at the end. On completion we hand over the source code, documentation and deployment environment in full.

We build production systems in Java and Spring Boot, Angular, React and Next.js on the web, and Flutter with native Android and iOS on mobile. Services are containerised with Docker, deployed through GitHub Actions pipelines, and monitored in production. Asynchronous workloads run on RabbitMQ.

We have integrated live payment and messaging platforms including Pesepay, Hot Recharge, Twilio and SendGrid, and we publish open-source Flutter packages. Where you already have an established stack, we work within it.

Our process

A defined delivery process

Every engagement follows the same six stages, so you always know the current position, what it costs, and what must be completed before the next stage begins.

  1. 01

    Discovery

We review your current systems and processes with the teams that use them, and define the objectives, scope and constraints of the engagement.

  2. 02

    Proposal

You receive a written proposal setting out the recommended approach, deliverables, timeline and costs, for approval before any work begins.

  3. 03

    Design

Interface designs, system architecture and, where relevant, site plans are produced and signed off while changes remain straightforward.

  4. 04

    Development

Work is delivered in defined stages you can review and test, with regular progress updates throughout the engagement.

  5. 05

    Deployment

Installation, data migration and user training are completed, and source code, documentation and account credentials are formally handed over.

  6. 06

    Support

Ongoing maintenance, technical support and further development under an agreed service level.
